Diet Pills, Fat Burners, Herbal Supplements …Oh My!!
I’m going to be honest,I’m tempted and considering asking my doctor for a prescription for a “diet pill”…My follow-up is in 3 weeks and I’m tempted as hell. Wait…before you lecture, let me state my points. I would like to use it as an aid with diet and excercise. I would like to use it for a month only or until the bottle is finish and I hope it will jump start my metabolism and curb this god forsaken “sweet tooth”. I know, I know, I’ve heard the horror studies and as a student nurse, I understand the side effects of medications, but, I also know myself. Let me explain.
I spent the whole of last year, trying to quit a 1 1/2 pack a day smoking addiction. In January,of this year, I said screw “January 1st , Resolution” and hello “New Year’s Resoultion” ( BTW: my intrepretation is that the whole damn year is new from last year, so I can choose whatever day, since it is new until December 31st, then it becomes old …don’t ask me to explain this logic …it makes sense to me ..and it keeps me going :)….hope my BF is not reading this , he will admit me to the psych ward for sure)…okay, where was I, yes, the smoking ….So I went to see my doctor and he give me this pill called champix, that I’m supposed to take for 12 weeks but you get started on a 2 week starter kit …The first week you are supposed to continue to smoke and in the second week, you quit …I don’t know what was in that pill but by the fourth day, I give up smoking, finish the starter pack, never went for the refill and this month will be 2 months that I’ve quit…no cravings, no need, just nausea, everytime I smell cigarettes, can’t even be in the same room with a smoker….bloody extreme…but, my point is….that if I make up my mind about something and set a deadline …I usually stick to it.
So, I’m thinking of asking my doctor for a prescription and hold on to it. If by June, I’m still struggling with food, I will start the pill. I still believe since I do believe in diet and excercise that Iwill still have success over the long term…but, I don’t know if it’s age, quitting smoke, school, but, I’m finding I’m slowing down, I can’t push myself like I used to …and I really, really, really, want to start back running for spring and be in the thick of it by summer…so we will see? ….However, I’m curious to know if anyone has tried a supplement to weight loss and what was the outcome …..okay, I mean as an aid …meaning, you also did diet and excercise….let me know …take care folks …..
NO NO NO NO. WARNING WARNING! Drop the pill bottle and run for the light… well okay if you really wont take them and just hold them. But I’m telling you those darn things almost killed me the last time I went there. The only supplement that ever worked for me with no nasty side effects are multivitamins for dieters. They are formulated to kick start your metabolism. They work for me. Stay Strong -Dee

I tried diet pills before and I honestly just felt worse taking them. I felt a bit sick, light headed, and I had some palpitations. So instead, I took a liquid iorn and a multivitamin and stocked up on my fruit and veg. My energy levels picked up after about a week and I havent looked back.
I’d nearly recommend going the natural route before you start putting pills into you.
I don’t know about this one. You sound as if you can handle it, and maybe not even bother taking it, like you said…”hold on to them”. Personally for me……noooooooooooo WAY! A few years ago I was dieting, eating healthy, and started taking, (shi*t, I can’t remember the name of it, when I do I’ll let you know), but anyway, they were supposed to be a natural supplement to speed help speed up your metabolism. Well, I don’t think they did, they did however speed up my heart, and was getting palpatations just sitting down. It took me a while to figure out what the problem was…as they in turn kept me from exercising, for fear that I would drop dead any minute, hence the weight came back on. Like Dee said…run in the opposite direction, the risks outweigh the cravings. You can get through them without it. Be Well!
I have mixed feelings. I believe the prescription medications are not good. I went on Phentramine about 5 years ago and was also dieting and exercising with them. I lost weight but the second they took me off them it cam back plus more. I have been taking a supplement called CLA 500. I get it from exclusiveonlinesavings.com. They have a whole weight management system and that has really worked for me. Good Luck!

Hi Friend! You don’t need the diet pills,I’ve taken them all and all they do is make you loose and then gain it back.Do it the natural way….You should take you measurments.Sometimes the inches show faster then the weight.Keep it up…
